Alarm.com uses AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE cellular networks for reliable monitoring coverage. Your panel will automatically connect to the strongest available signal.

Monitoring Network Coverage

Alertor panels communicate through Alarm.com’s nationwide cellular infrastructure, using multiple carrier paths for maximum reliability.

AT&T LTE Coverage

Primary Path

Primary cellular path for Alarm.com panels. AT&T’s nationwide LTE network covers 99%+ of the US population, providing fast and reliable alarm signal transmission.

Verizon LTE Coverage

Backup Path

Backup cellular path for dual-path panels. Verizon’s extensive LTE infrastructure ensures your alarm signals get through even if the primary carrier is congested.

Broadband Backup

Optional

Optional Wi-Fi backup for added reliability. Connect your panel to your home network for a secondary communication path alongside cellular for triple redundancy.

Why Cellular Monitoring?

Cellular is the industry gold standard for alarm communication. Here is why every Alertor system uses a dedicated cellular connection.

Cannot Be Cut by Intruders

Unlike phone lines or ethernet cables, cellular signals travel wirelessly to cell towers. An intruder cannot disable your alarm by cutting wires outside your home.

Works During Power Outages

Your alarm panel includes a battery backup that keeps cellular communication running during power outages. Your security never goes offline.

24+ hour battery backup

Faster Signal Transmission

LTE cellular delivers alarm signals to the central monitoring station in seconds, significantly faster than legacy phone-line communicators.

Coverage FAQ

Common questions about coverage, networks, and cellular alarm monitoring.

Does Alertor have coverage in my area?

Alarm.com uses AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE cellular networks, which together cover over 99% of the US population. Enter your ZIP code in the coverage map above to confirm availability. Even areas with limited cell phone reception typically have sufficient signal for alarm communication, which requires far less bandwidth than a voice call.

What happens if cellular coverage is weak at my address?

Alarm signals require very little bandwidth compared to voice or data. Even areas with one bar of LTE signal can reliably transmit alarm events. Additionally, we can add a broadband (Wi-Fi) backup path so your panel has two independent communication channels. If you have specific concerns, call us at 743-253-7867 and we can evaluate your situation.

Which cellular carriers does Alarm.com use?

Alarm.com panels communicate over AT&T LTE and Verizon LTE networks. The communicator module in your panel determines which carrier is used. During the ordering process, we help match the right communicator to the strongest network in your area. Dual-path panels can use both carriers plus broadband for maximum reliability.

Do I need my own cellular plan for the alarm system?

No. Your alarm panel has a built-in cellular communicator with its own SIM card. Cellular service for your alarm system is included in your Alertor monitoring plan at no additional cost. It does not use your personal cell phone plan, home Wi-Fi, or any other connection. It is a dedicated, always-on cellular link specifically for your security system.
